What is a Handover Inspection Report?
Is your new home or investment property nearly completed? A Practical completion inspection, or otherwise known as a Handover Inspection report is to confirm the completion of construction works on your project. Whether its your new home or investment property.
A handover inspection carried out by our team provides an independent assessment on your behalf. This is to assess the tradesman’s works to ensure they have been completed and meet the AS standard and thresholds. There is a 6 month time frame for these minor defects to be documented and by ensuring this inspection is completed in this time frame, you will ensure the finished work is complete and you are ready to take possession.
Practical Completion Process
A handover inspection / practical completion report is essential to assess the quality of work by the builder to identify finishing defects, incomplete or substandard works that are not within The Australian Standard & Tolerances established by the Building Commission in 2007.
Based on the Consultant’s experience, rectification of defects found can be reasonably expected the responsibility of the builder. The
inspection is also undertaken on your behalf by one of our Licensed Builders to give an independent assessment. By having one of our inspectors represent you with their expertise will ensure smooth communication with your contractors or site supervisors to achieve a desirable outcome if issues have been identified.
Whats included in a Handover Inspection?
- Firstly, we arrange access with your builder or site supervisor for inspection dates and times.
- Our licensed builder will arrive onsite to inspect the property and discuss items with your builder.
- A photographic report is compiled in PDF format detailing works incomplete or not to standard.
- The handover inspection report can be provided to your builder to ensure completion.
- A follow up inspection can be arranged to check final works if you require.
